On March 9, 2006 the Chinese Business Chamber of Canada held a news conference and information session at the Holiday Inn (at Woodbine & Steeles, Ontario) on the 4th APEC SME Conference & Fair to be held in Qingdao, China. Over 40 Canadian companies and about 10 media attended the event. The purpose of the event was to promote the APEC METC and invite Canadian companies to join the CBCC¡¯s SME Canada Trade Mission to participate in the Fair.
Mr. Sean Hu, CBCC¡¯s president, Mr. Stephen Wong, Chair of the Training Committee, Mr. Benson Wond, Chair of the Event Committee, and Mr. Sunny Sheng, Chair of the Member Benefits Committee made their presentations respectively.
In last October the CBCC was selected as a Co-Organiser of the 4th APEC SME Conference & Fair by the Secretariat of the APEC SME Conference & Fair Organizing Committee and importantly it was also selected as a host and organizer of the ¡°Canada Investment, Trade and Immigration Forum¡± of the Conference & Fair. The creation of this Canada Forum is a recognition of the importance of Canada in the world economy and will be the first of the kind in the history of the APEC SME Conference & Fair.
The Forum will be attended by about 200 Chinese companies that intend to expand their businesses to Canada. The purpose of this Forum is to promote Canada and importantly promote the businesses of specific Canadian companies who intend to find Chinese partners, Chinese buyers or Chinese investors for your projects in Canada. The Forum topics may be varied and may include Canadian investment environment (law, culture, politics, taxation, economy¡); Canadian banking, financial, and insurance systems; going public and financing in Canada for Chinese companies; visa, immigration, study in Canada; Canadian market and Canada-China trade opportunities; Canada¡¯s main industries and specific investment opportunities (presentations for specific projects seeking Chinese investment: education, auto parts, tourism, energy, forestry, building materials, mining, ¡just name a few).
