The 2005 Most Improved Chinese Businesses & New Year Celebration Gala

Time/Date: 6:00-9:00pm, January 8, 2006 (Sunday)
Venue: Golden Regency Restaurant Pacific Mall
4300 Steeles Ave. E, Markham, ON

The event, attended by 350 businesspersons, was a great success. It was a night to celebrate both the new year and the most improved Chinese businesses in Canada in the year 2005, and 8 Chinese entrepreneurs were awarded with the title and shared their success stories with the audience.

The Most Improved Chinese Business (MICB) is a title awarded to those Chinese entrepreneurs who have had an outstanding improvement or achievement in his/her business the past year. The selection process includes the nomination by the entrepreneur himself/herself or by someone else and the review and selection by a judging panel appointed by the Chinese Business Chamber of Canada.
The 2005 MICBs include 8 entrepreneurs and they are:
Ms. Jacqueline J. Shan, Ph.D, President of CV Technologies Inc.. The Profit Magazine lists her as 2005¡¯s 57th female entrepreneur in Canada and the CBCC selects her as ¡°person of the year in Chinese business¡±. Her company, a publicly-traded company specialising in health products, was selected as one of the best in performance in 2005 in the Toronto Stock Exchange.
Mr. Jack Li, who accomplished a significant expansion of his Hua Sheng Supermarket chain in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) in 2005.
Mr. Jiaxi Shi, President of Teda Enterprises (Canada) Inc. an importer and wholesaler of Chinese and Southeast Asian foods, who significantly increased his sales to the major supermarkets in the GTA in 2005.
Mr. King Yuan, known as ¡°King of Shoes¡±, a wholesaler of safety shoes, who just successfully completed the re-organisation of his company in 2005.
Mr. Bin Jiang Wu, Doctor in Chinese traditional medicine and owner of a Chinese Traditional Medicine school, who achieved a great success in increasing the enrolment for his school in the mainstream society market in the GTA in 2005.
Mr. James Yang, a former scholar and now an entrepreneur who has successfully established his own financial group of businesses including a trust fund, risk management control, finance & investment news, and personnel training.
Mr. Alan Li, who has just left his high-paid IT job and become a successful entrepreneur in selling natural health products.
Ms. Maria Sun, who has been running one of the most successful career colleges owned by Chinese Canadians
